Human Resources

The Community Disabilities Services sector supports people with disabilities to be a part of everyday life. We help them experience the joy and fulfillment of being valued and respected members of their neighbourhoods, schools and workplaces. And we make it possible to pursue their dreams and lead lives full of endless opportunities.

ACDS' Human Resource Strategy

Building a Labour Force to Support Children, Youth and Adults with Disabilities People who work in the community disabilities profession and the services they provide are essential to achieving Alberta’s vision of “a vibrant and prosperous province where all Albertans enjoy a superior quality of life.” The Workforce 2010 initiative addresses labour market issues and provides foundational information on the community rehabilitation sector – representing the most comprehensive study of this labour market in the history of Alberta.

Through the Workforce initiative, we are building a well trained, stable and professional community disability workforce providing valued support to children, youth, and adults with disabilities. So, if you are involved in the community disabilities profession, as an employer, employee, or potential employee, this web site is for you. Individuals with developmental disabilities and their families can also benefit from the information provided, as can board members and others involved in decision and policy making in this sector.

Emerging from the project is a comprehensive human resource strategy for Community Disability Services entitled “- An Action Plan for Building People Capacity -”. The strategy reflects the four pillars of recruit, develop, engage and retain. It provides an action framework that will assist in achieving the vision.
